Ceglia Gets Dumped
A few months ago we posted about a new lawsuit brought against Facebook. The individual who filed the case, Paul Ceglia (pictured above), claims he is legally entitled to own a large portion of the multi-billion dollar company. Ceglia included several emails that were supposedly exchanged between him and Mark Zuckerberg while he was still writing the code for the social networking super power.
What was just as surprising as the allegations was the law firm which Ceglia had as his legal representation. DLA Piper is a global law firm with over 4,000 attorneys. They usually only represent corporations so, needless to say, they’re kind of a big deal.
Initially I thought this might end up being a big issue for Facebook. That has now changed since DLA has filed to withdraw as Ceglia’s representation in this case. Ceglia has a history as a conman and scam artist so DLA probably asked themselves, “What the hell are we doing with this guy?”
Ceglia’s representation is now a law firm called Jeffrey Jake. I did some searching through our law database here at NGD (aka Google search) and found their website. The first thing you see if the Lake Team’s slogan, “Mortgage Solutions for Generations”. Now I’m not passed the bar, but I know a little bit, enough to know that an eight attorney law firm stands no chance in out-lawyering Facebook.
