Much like they did when the Red Sox won the World Series, or even when their own football team lost in the national championship a few years ago, students at the University of Massachusetts knew exactly how they were going to celebrate the news that Osama bin Laden had not only been found, but killed in skirmish late Sunday night.
This video, posted by the school’s newspaper The Daily Collegian, shows students out, not “rioting” as the title suggests, but actually simply celebrating in a large crowd. Nothing is wrong with this, and I find it a great way to celebrate a sense of American unity on a college campus. Check out the video, it doesn’t show any flipped over cars, and even though there are police in riot gear, students are calmly escorted back to their dorms at the end of the night, peacefully. Give it a once over and post your own responses.
