I didn’t mean for this blog to become all about sports, but sometimes that’s where the most captivating stories are, and this weekend has just been rife with them. Take for instance the fact that rapper Jay-Z was just slammed by the NBA to the tune of $50,000. Why would the billionaire mogul be taking orders to pay Donald Stern you may be wondering.
Well, turns out he had forgotten about the NBA rules that state no team official may visit with players before they enter the NBA Draft. And since Jay Z is a minority owner of the New Jersey Nets, his visit to the locker room of the Kentucky Wildcats shortly after their Elite Eight win to snap photos and give out free high fives is going to cost him what most of us wouldn’t even spend on a car.
Didn’t know Jay was such a Wildcats fan, but he must be. The only way I’d be spending $50,000 to visit a locker room definitely wouldn’t include one chock full of dudes, but that’s just me and I don’t have Beyonce to go home to either.
