>NYPD – To Protect and Serve?

Joseph Lozito, a man who has become known as a hero in NYC, is suing the NYPD for events that occurred in February.  Lozito wrestled Maxsim Gelman, the man in accused of fatally stabbing three people on February 12th, until police officers eventually intervened several minutes later.  Lozito claims that the officers locked themselves in the conductors room of the subway train in fear of Gelman pulling a gun.  The officers of course have a very different story.  They defend that Gelman slammed the door shut with them inside and they intervened as soon as they were able to open it.  What a mess… I don’t know who I want to believe in this situation.  Both parties’ reputations are at stake.  If Lozito’s claim is true then the officers will likely lose their jobs.  If he is lying, then I’m sure New Yorkers will have several new things to call him, none of which will be “hero.”
